Healthy Turmeric Granola Recipe

Most granola recipes I see out there have large amounts of processed sugar in them. With this healthy granola recipe, we are only using 1/4 cup of natural, organic maple syrup for the entire mixture.

On top of this, the secret ingredient we have used to add a stronger flavour and colour is turmeric.

Turmeric has incredible health benefits and combined with all the delicious healthy ingredients in this recipe, it makes for an incredibly nutritious snack.

Healthy Granola Recipe

? Ingredients ?

Original

  • 4 Cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 Chopped Almonds
  • 2/3 Cup Pecans
  • 1/2 Cup Dessicated Coconut
  • 1/3 Cup Pumpkin Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1-2 tbsp Turmeric
  • 1/3 Cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup

? Instructions ?

Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix together.

Spread mixture out of a baking tray evenly, but don’t pack the mixture down.

Bake for 30 mins at 350F/180C.

(After 15 mins in the oven, take the granola out and mix it, then continue to cook the mixture.)

After 30 mins in the oven, let the granola cool down to at least room temperature before you store it.

Will last in a cool dark place for up to a month.

This healthy granola recipe can last for up to a month in your pantry and is the perfect alternative to those store bought cereals or granolas.

Vegan Mayo Recipe | 3 Ways

I’m a mayo lover, but was so disappointed by the ingredients in most of them that I stopped eating it. This is why I developed my own vegan mayo recipe and now I want to share it with the world!

Most of the sauces out there have ingredients that are neither good for the body or the planet but many healthy alternatives are tricky to make or have ingredients that are hard to find.

We’ve found one that you can make with relatively little effort and with a huge taste ROI.

If you’d like to have a healthy taste packed alternative to mayo that’s also sugar free, then this is the recipe for you.

We’ve created 3 variations including; the original, cheesy and a smokey chili version for this recipe.

This sauce is fantastic with homemade oven fries, I use it for the base of creamy salad dressings or you can have it on a tomato, lettuce and avocado wrap.

Vegan Mayo Recipe

? Ingredients ?

Original

  • 1 Cup Soaked Cashews
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • Juice of 1/2 a Lemon
  • 1-2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp of Coconut Cream or Coconut Milk from the fridge (optional)
  • Pinch of Sea Salt Flakes
  • 3-4 tbsp Water until desired consistency is reached.

Cheesy Sauce

Simply add to the original sauce:

  • 1-2 tbsp Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tbsp Miso Paste

Spicy Sauce

Add to the base sauce:

  • 1 Chili – with or without seeds, depending on your preference.
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika or Sweet Paprika

Place all of the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.

Then serve with your favourite local, organic veggies or homemade potato wedges.

Conclusion

This vegan mayo recipe can last for up to a week in your fridge and is the perfect alternative to those store bought mayonnaise that are usually packed full of sugar and other nasty stuff!

Natural way to cure a cold

It’s nearing the end of summer, the kids are heading back to school and you know what that means – it’s cold season. Fortunately, we have a natural way to cure and/or prevent a cold and it’s super simple to make.

This recipe uses the natural healing powers of lemon, ginger and everyone’s household staple – apple cider vinegar.

Getting a high quality apple cider vinegar is crucial for this to work. Make sure your ACV is organic and contains a mother culture (most brands will have “with mother” written on them.

Lemon adds a nice tart flavour as well as natural electrolytes and vitamins (including lots of vitamin C).

Ginger provides a whole host of nutritents and also helps the ease digestion. This allows your body to process all these great ingredients without causing any major stomach discomfort.

All of these ingredients help alkalise your body.

Colds often come about as a result of an acidic environment in your body, brought about through a diet of processed foods and sugar. 

If you take this natural cold remedy as soon as you notice a cold coming, you’ll be amazed at how quickly it will start working!

Home Remedy To Cure Cold Naturally

? Ingredients ?

  • Juice of Half a Lemon
  • 3 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar (Organic “with mother”)

  • 1 inch knob of Ginger, grated

  • Optional 1 tsp honey + Water to help with the taste.

? Instructions ?

Place all ingredients into a glass and stir to combine.

Drink as soon as you notice a cold forming and continue to have 1 glass every day until the cold dissapears. 

Additionally, if the taste is too strong you can dilute this drink with fresh spring water and a tsp of honey.

Conclusion

This is our go-to home remedy for colds. Many store-bought medicines contain all sorts of unnatural chemicals, and many contain large amounts of processed sugar (unbelievable!).

When healing the body, we promote the use of natural organic ingredients as we believe nature is our greatest healer.

Crispy Kale Chips

You don’t have to love kale to be healthy, but it helps. This crispy kale chip recipe will convert a kale hater into a kale lover.

Most people resist kale because of its texture and ‘cabbagie’ flavour.

The trick to loving kale is to make it taste good and part of that is making the texture of it palatable.

This can be done by massaging it, adding flavour and by making chips with it.

Today we are doing just that and chipping it up in our Sweet Freedom Recipe with some Crispy 5 Spice Oven Baked Kale Chips (which means you don’t need a fancy dehydrator to make them).

Spices are a powerful way to not only make food taste more delicious they increase the protective powers of dishes.

That makes this recipe truly a win win.

Crispy Kale Chips Recipe

? Ingredients ?

  • Bunch of Kale (stem removed)
  • 1 tsp Chinese 5 Spice

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Pinch of salt

? Instructions ?

De-stem the kale leaves and tear leafs into chip-sized pieces.

Add 5-spice, olive oil and salt to the kale and mix thoroughly.

Place mixture onto tray and back for 20 mins (or until crispy) at 300F/150C.

Conclusion

Kale is not everyones cup of tea, but incoporating it into your diet will bring a bunch of incredible nutrition into your world. As we always say, the more you nourish, the less you’ll crave sugar!

Coconut Bacon Recipe

Did you know that when polled, the food vegetarians miss most is bacon? Today’s Coconut Bacon recipe will satisfy that itch without the use of liquid smoke!

While it may not fool you it is a fun recipe that is super easy and much better for you than bacon.

I know a million pigs and Vegan’s who’d agree 😉

There are stacks of recipes but many use liquid smoke which is downright nasty with it’s synthesized smoke flavour additive.

Our version has a lovely smoked salt which is not just better for you, it tastes better than liquid smoke.

The other lovely thing about this recipe is that it is a great way to take care of your salty chip cravings without double cooked oils and starches that convert to sugars like potato chips.

Coconut Bacon Recipe

? Ingredients ?

  • Coconut Flakes 2 Cups
  • Tamari 2 tsp
  • Pinch of Smoked Salt
  • Coconut Oil 1 tbsp

? Instructions ?

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, except the coconut oil.

Cover a tray in coconut oil.

Place mixture onto tray and back for 7-10 mins at 325F/160C.

Conclusion

This coconut bacon recipe will sratch that bacon itch without harming any animals or using any nasty liquid smoke.

Healthy Key Lime Pie Recipe

Are you a Key Lime Pie lover? If so, we’ve got a healthy key lime pie recipe that you can make into mini truffles.

Even if you’re not crazy about the dessert, I challenge you to make these truffles and not like them. 

The recipe came to me from Chloe Elgar a former student and now friend who got the recipe from Joy McCarthy.

We think you will be amazed at the return on investment you’ll get for this amazing deliciousness that comes from such simple ingredients.

PRO TIP: The trick is to get ripe but healthy avocados, cold pressed coconut oil, raw honey, from healthy bees and fresh limes.

If you want to know if a lime is going to taste amazing, simply scratch its zest and if you have a beautiful lime aroma, it’s a good lime, if you can’t smell the lime aroma, buy another.

Healthy Key Lime Pie Recipe

? Ingredients ?

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • Juice and zest of 1 lime
  • ½ cup organic coconut oil
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ½ cup shredded coconut (look for organic, unsweetened and unsulfured)

? Instructions ?

Peel and remove the seed of the avocado and place the green avocado ito a  food processor.

Squeeze the juice of the lime on top of the avocado and add the lime zest.

Melt the coconut oil over medium heat, then add to the food processor.

Add the honey and blend until completely smooth.

Transfer to a bowl and place in freezer for one hour or until it’s solid enough to form into balls.

Place the shredded coconut in a bowl.

Spoon out the avocado mixture and form into balls (Note: The balls won’t be perfectly round, but once you roll them in the coconut shreds, they’ll form better.)

Place rolled balls back in the freezer for a couple of hours.

Conclusion
